AI Policy

Under our core philosophy that Software Is Culture, Digital Stoneworks Canada commits to never using artificial intelligence (AI) to replicate, mimic, or replace human creativity, natural intelligence, or wisdom. Our Vision regards authentically human stories as the atomic unit of culture, carrying sacred wisdom of our ancestors for the benefit of society, maps through life and death which cannot be replaced by machine learning.

As a software studio, we commit to using AI only in a responsible, limited, restrained manner, to facilitate or accelerate repetitive tasks and expedite data crunching. We are conscious of various challenges with using AI, including potentially harmful biases, language, exclusivity, and so on. Our approach will:

  • Use AI as a tool to assist and accelerate tasks, not to replace humans.
  • Always keep a human in the loop to assess and revise source data, algorithms, and output.
  • Source and/or update inclusive, ethical, and balanced training data.
  • Remain conscious and ethical in prompt language.
  • Assess output for bias, ethics, bigotry, and other such issues.

Our mission is to bring the wisdom of ancient traditions to our modern life; we must always treat these traditions with respect and our ancestors with dignity. We are searching for humanity, connection, and respect, not capital gain at any cost. We are human-centred in our values, our designs, and our products for the benefit of other humans. While we might use a shovel, a computer, or an AI-powered algorithm as a tool in our tasks, we are focused on creating apps and games as a means for human connection with ethical and respectful values.
